The scientific name of caustic soda is sodium hydroxide (chemical formula NaOH), also known as caustic soda. It is the basic alkali raw material in chemical industry. It is mainly used in the production of alumina, paper making, cellulose pulp, metal zinc and metal surface treatment, production of soap, synthetic detergent, synthetic fatty acid and refining of animal and vegetable oils, textile printing and dyeing workers as desizing agent, scouring agent and mercerizing agent for cotton cloth, ceramic glaze production, and food workers as acid neutralizer, peeling agent, remover and deodorizer.
